Artist Statement 2026

Manche Dinge sind so hochwertig, dass man sie nicht verwenden kann. Meine Großtante hatte eine Küche aus Marmor und Gold im Parterre. Im Keller war die Küche, die sie benutzt hat. In meiner Küche kann ich mich selbst einmal umdrehen und den Pfannkuchen in der Pfanne. Ein Kind kocht Sand und Blätter in einem imaginären Topf und in Notzeiten kaufen Leute so viel Klopapier, wie sie gar nicht alleine essen können.

Meine seriellen Arbeiten gehen der Frage nach: was braucht man zum Leben, was ist wirklich wichtig. Sie werfen einen Blick nach innen und zeigen die Kluft zwischen dem Bild, das wir gerne von uns haben und dem, was wirklich in uns steckt. Mich interessiert der Punkt, wo aus Erwachsenen Kinder werden.

Angefangen habe ich mit Acryl auf Leinwand. Dann folgten Skulpturen aus Marmor und Beton und als wichtiges Standbein Miniaturen für Filme und Museen.

Some things are of such high quality that you can’t use them. My great-aunt had a marble and gold kitchen on her ground floor. The kitchen she used was in the basement. In my kitchen, I can turn around and flip the pancake in the pan. A child cooks sand and leaves in an imaginary pot, and in times of need, people buy more toilet paper than they can possibly eat.

My serial works explore the question: what do we need in life, what is really important? They look inward and reveal the gap between the image we like to see of ourselves and what is really inside us. I am interested in the point where adults become children.

I started out with acrylic on canvas. Then came marble and concrete sculpture, and, as an important field of my work, miniatures for films and museums.
